Today we want to tell you what you can do in Matalascañas while you stay with us. Outdoor activities, leisure, enjoying local cuisine... there are many things you can do if you go with the little ones in the house.
Visit the Matalascañas Blue Trail
It is a path that runs from west to east in Matalascañas. It reaches from the Playa del Acantilado del Médano del Asperillo to the lower beaches of the National Park. Through it you can see the entire north of Matalascañas and visit wonderful places like the Mirador del Atlántico
The dunes
The little ones will love the Dunar Park, 130 hectares of stabilized sand dunes dotted with local vegetation, especially stone pines and Mediterranean scrub. Children will think they are on a different planet.
The 6 beacon towers
In this place your little ones will think they are medieval knights. They are arranged from the mouth of the Guadiana to that of the Guadalquivir and make up a chain of fortifications on the seashore. They served to defend and monitor the coast from pirates. The ones you can see in Doñana are the Torre del Oro, the Asperillo, Torre de la Higuera, La Carbonero, Zalabar and San Jacinto.
Barracks and bunkers
But in Matalascañas there are also remains of bunkers and barracks. The first were built by Franco in 1943 to respond to the Allied invasion of North Africa. On the coast of Doñana there are three in Punta del Malandar.
Regarding the barracks, they are remains of those of the Carabineros Corps. In Doñana you can see the Matalascañas one.
Balcony of the Atlantic
In front of the dune park, on the coast, you can see the Matalascañas Lighthouse. It is a wonderful place that you have to visit with your family.
Promenade
Last but not least, we talk about the promenade. With more than three kilometers of green areas, pedestrian walkways and elements for the little ones in the family to play, it is an essential place to visit.
